UKSEDS Competition and Presentations
UKSEDS has chapters at more than 45 universities, technical schools and engineering societies across the United Kingdom. SSPI began work with UKSEDS in 2016, bringing student competitions to their annual programs.
2019-2020 Competition: Nanosatellites
We challenge student teams to design, construct and operate a nanosatellite payload system with the objective to acquire as much information as possible from an analogue lunar nanosatellite mission. Students will create a payload concept, trade off performance parameters and pass through a rigorous review process with panels of experts within the space industry. MORE
2018-2019 Competition: Cubesat Astronomy
We challenge student teams to research and identify an astronomy opportunity or requirement for which cubesat technology offers a high-quality solution and provide a high-level design for one or more cubesats capable of carrying out that mission and transmitting observational data to Earth. MORE
2016-2017 Competition: Small Sats – The Next Generation
We challenge student teams to develop a design for a small communications satellite capable of delivering 50 Mbps of data connectivity from LEO to small antennas on the ground without exceeding a weight limit of 150 kilograms, while handing off communications traffic to other satellites as they pass over the user, and maintaining their orbital station.
