Joshua Ingersoll

Senior Product Manager – Lasercom, Amazon Leo for Government

Joshua Ingersoll is Senior Product Manager for Lasercom at Amazon Leo for Government, where he leads the development of advanced optical communications products for government users interfacing with Amazon’s low earth orbit broadband satellite network. His work sits at the intersection of engineering, policy, and product strategy, defining end-to-end product lifecycles, managing technical trade-offs, and aligning secure, high-bandwidth communications solutions with national security and government mission requirements. Across roles in commercial space, regulation, and public service, Josh has built a career focused on connecting underserved communities and translating complex space systems into durable public benefit.

In his current role at Amazon Leo, Josh oversees a portfolio of government-focused laser communications hardware and software, shaping product architecture, pricing strategy, and go-to-market execution while leading multidisciplinary teams distributed across engineering, policy, and operations. Colleagues note his ability to translate complex engineering decisions into clear product direction, balancing regulatory compliance, customer needs, and long-term infrastructure strategy.

Before returning to Leo, Josh served as Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs at Astranis Space Technologies, where he led U.S. and international licensing for the company’s MicroGEO satellite systems. His leadership was central to securing regulatory approval for Astranis’s first two geostationary satellites dedicated to serving the Philippines, enabling affordable internet access for millions across remote and rural communities. Endorsers consistently highlight this work as a rare example of regulatory leadership directly enabling social and economic impact.

Earlier in his career, Josh held multiple technical and policy roles at Amazon Leo (formerly Project Kuiper), including Satellite Regulatory Engineer and Manager of Constellation Policy. In those positions, he represented Leo before domestic and international regulators, including the FCC and ITU, and helped shape policy strategies addressing spectrum management, orbital debris mitigation, and NGSO interference. He began his career at The Aerospace Corporation as a Spacecraft Systems Engineer, contributing to spacecraft design studies and advanced modeling for government customers.

Josh’s academic background reflects the same interdisciplinary approach. He holds three graduate degrees: a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech, a Master of Arts in International Science and Technology Policy from George Washington University, and an MBA in STEM Management from George Washington University. He is also a Project Management Professional and maintains an active security clearance in support of government missions.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Josh is deeply committed to mentorship and workforce development. He serves as Executive Director of the Matthew Isakowitz Commercial Space Scholarship, mentors more than 100 students annually through Georgia Tech’s Mentor-in-Residence program, and has led STEM outreach initiatives in his hometown. Endorsers, including senior industry leaders to students he has mentored, consistently describe his leadership as service-oriented, disciplined, and quietly transformative.
