Leadership in Multinational Programmes
As Head of Programmes at SES, Shruti oversees the execution of the European Union’s flagship IRIS² initiative and related strategic satellite communication programmes. She leads multinational collaborations, manages stakeholder
engagement, and directs high-level negotiations to advance Europe’s sovereign, secure, and resilient satellite connectivity infrastructure. In this capacity, she has been instrumental in progressing and concluding negotiations between the SpaceRise consortium and the European Commission. Her leadership combines deep technical expertise in satellite systems, sharp business acumen, and advanced negotiation skills, enabling the successful delivery of a critical space-based communication asset that underpins Europe’s digital sovereignty and security

Technical and Strategic Expertise
Shruti brings a comprehensive skillset spanning satellite engineering, procurement, financial risk management, and strategic portfolio leadership. She led the SES procurement team responsible for the launch of SES-10 on Falcon 9, leveraging reusable launch vehicle technology to maximize cost-efficiency and sustainability. Additionally, she spearheaded innovations that accelerated mission readiness and operational responsiveness of satellites. Her tenure as Head of Captive Insurance and Risk Management at SES involved managing two captive insurance entities underwriting multi-billion euro satellite launch and operational risks. Through innovative risk structuring and modeling, she
achieved significant cost reductions while safeguarding organizational resilience under complex regulatory conditions
She also advises on market entry strategies and satellite design adaptations informed by geopolitical considerations, further reinforcing her role as a strategic leader within the satellite communications sector.

Education and Professional Recognition
Shruti holds a Master’s degree in Space Sciences from the International Space University and an MBA from the Open University. She completed her actuarial certification and holds certifications in insurance risk management and satellite communications. She is an alumni of INSEAD.
