Director of External Affairs / Manager of Defense Programs, AST SpaceMobile
Alexandra “Sasha” Marshack is Director of External Affairs and Manager of Defense Programs at AST SpaceMobile, where she operates at the intersection of engineering, regulation, and national security for one of the industry’s most ambitious direct-to-device satellite networks. With a background in electrical engineering and deep experience in international spectrum policy, Sasha plays a central role in aligning commercial strategy with regulatory and defense requirements as the company scales globally. Her work supports AST SpaceMobile’s mission to extend mobile broadband access worldwide while safeguarding critical spectrum and security interests.
At AST SpaceMobile, Sasha serves as a primary bridge between commercial partners, regulatory teams, and defense stakeholders. Recruited at 29 to manage global spectrum and partnership efforts, she works across technical, policy, and operational domains to ensure compliance, resilience, and credibility in highly scrutinized environments. Colleagues note that her effectiveness stems from fluency on both sides of the conversation, with the ability to engage deeply on satellite system design while navigating the regulatory frameworks that shape market access.
That dual capability was forged during her tenure as a Senior Regulatory Engineer at RKF Engineering Solutions. In that role, Sasha represented the United States at the International Telecommunication Union, including the World Radiocommunication Conference in 2023 and the Radiocommunication Assembly. When the designated U.S. lead for Agenda Item 1.8 was unable to participate, she stepped into the role on one of the conference’s most contentious issues, coordinating closely with the FCC, NTIA, FAA, Department of Defense, and international counterparts. Endorsers emphasize that her technical command and diplomatic skill were instrumental in defending U.S. positions and protecting critical defense spectrum in an environment where most member states opposed the U.S. view.
Earlier in her career, Sasha built a strong engineering foundation through roles at Greenfield Engineering and J.F. Taylor, as well as internships with RKF Engineering Solutions and GSMA. Her experience spans designing mission-critical Navy ISR systems, supporting interference and spectrum analyses, and contributing to consumer electronics programs used at global scale. This breadth enables her to translate engineering detail into regulatory strategy with unusual precision.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Sasha has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to service and inclusion. She has mentored through the Society of Women Engineers, participated in ITU Network of Women initiatives, and volunteered for more than a decade with major civic events including the Head of the Charles Regatta and the Boston Athletic Association.
