(1 December 2025 - London) — Space & Satellite Professionals International (SSPI), together with its UK Chapter, SSPI UK, is delighted to announce Dr Alice Bunn OBE, President of the UKspace Trade Association and Chief Executive of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), as the winner of the 2025 UK Satellite Personality of the Year Award.
The award was presented at the annual Better Satellite World Awards Dinner in London, celebrating individuals whose leadership, vision, and commitment have made a profound contribution to the UK satellite and space sector.
Dr Bunn has played a significant and long-standing role in shaping the UK’s space landscape. As the former International Director at the UK Space Agency, she contributed to national space policy, strengthened international partnerships, and championed initiatives that expanded opportunities for UK industry. She has represented the UK at major global forums — including the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) — and continues to elevate the UK’s global standing through her leadership at UKspace and IMechE.
This year’s shortlist honoured three outstanding industry leaders whose work has advanced innovation, sustainability, and global cooperation. SSPI congratulates all nominees, including: Nobu Okada, CEO & Founder, Astroscale and Michael Thompson, Founder & former Director, Access Partnership, alongside this year’s winner, Dr Alice Bunn.
The evening also recognised the winners of the 2025 Better Satellite World Awards, celebrating organisations driving progress and positive impact across the global satellite industry:
• INTEGRASYS Group – for CleanRF, a breakthrough in interference cancellation
• Astroscale – for ADRAS-J, the world’s first safe approach to large space debris
• River Advisers – for building a sustainable talent pipeline for the satellite and space sector
Hosted at 1 Whitehall Place, the Better Satellite World Awards Dinner once again showcased the essential role of the satellite industry in supporting the economy, safety, security, governance, global development, and planetary health.
Looking ahead, SSPI UK invites the industry to save the date for next year’s Better Satellite World Awards Dinner, which will take place on the first Monday of December 2026. We look forward to welcoming the satellite community once again as we celebrate the achievements and impact of our sector.
