SSPI Elects New Members and Officers to its Board of Directors

New York City (March 17, 2010) – The Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) announced the election of new members of its Board of Directors and the appointment of new officers to lead the nonprofit organization.
A vote of the membership resulted in the election of new Directors to three-year terms on the SSPI Board, including: Didier Debellemanière, Head, Technical Department, Eurovision-Operations, European Broadcasting Union; Richard Denny, Vice President, Satellite & Network Operations, Inmarsat; Dawn Harms, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Space Systems/Loral; and Bryan McGuirk, Senior Vice President, North American Media Sales, SES WORLDSKIES.
In addition, two Directors were re-elected to second terms, including: Paul Bush, Vice President, Business Development, Telesat and Dick Tauber, Vice President, Transmission Systems and New Technology, CNN News Group (who serves as SSPI’s Vice President, Chapters).
The Board appointed Clayton Mowry, President, Arianespace, Inc., as its Chairman; Keith Buckley, President and CEO, ASC Signal Corporation as President. Mr. Mowry and Mr. Buckley will serve a one-year term, after which Mr. Buckley will succeed to the Chairmanship. In addition, the Board appointed Mark Quinn, Senior Vice President, Willis Inspace as its Vice President for Corporate Sponsorship, and Chris Stott, Managing Director, Mansat as its Vice President for Education. "SSPI has been extremely fortunate to have the leadership and support of many dedicated and talented leaders in the space industry on our Board of Directors,” said SSPI Executive Director Robert Bell. "Each of these individuals brings a unique background and experience, allowing us to continually evolve to meet the needs of this dynamic industry." In addition to these Directors and Officers, the members of SSPI's Board include: Paul Beeman, Senior Vice President, Satellite Engineering and Affiliate Relations, FOX Networks Engineering & Operations; Andreas Georghiou, CEO, Spacenet; Barbara Jaffe, Senior Vice President, Advanced Technology and Operations, Home Box Office; D.K. Sachdev, President, Space Tel Consultancy LLC (SSPI Vice President, Membership); Dom Stasi, Chief Technology Officer Emeritus, TVN Entertainment; Steve Teller, President, IOT Systems, (SSPI Treasurer); and Dianne vanBeber, Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, Intelsat (SSPI Secretary).
