SSPI Announces 2009 Promise and Mentor Awardees

Recipients to be Honored at 4th Annual Future Leaders Dinner October 13 During Satellite Week in NYC

New York City (September 30, 2009) – The Society of Satellite Professionals International named Dr. Max Kamenetsky, Principal System Engineer, Space Systems/Loral; Robert Scheige, Assistant Vice President, Willis Inspace; and Stefano Poli, Sales Manager, Thales Alenia Space as the 2009 recipients of the industry’s “Promise Awards” which recognize young and promising executives and leaders in the global satellite communications industry.
 
Dom Stasi, Chief Technology Officer, Avail-TVN, was selected as SSPI’s “Mentor Award” recipient, honoring his years of contributions to the industry, nurturing and mentoring rising young professionals.

The recipients will be honored during SSPI’s 4th annual Future Leaders Dinner on October 13 at The Princeton Club in midtown Manhattan.  The Future Leaders Dinner begins at 6:00 p.m. (ET) with a cocktail reception.  A portion of the proceeds from the banquet and awards ceremony goes to SSPI’s educational fund for scholarship and intern grants for students seeking careers in the satellite industry.

“We developed these awards and this event to honor the next generation of leaders in satellite communications and the industries it serves.  These four professionals are making a significant difference within their companies and contribute to the industry in tangible and intangible ways,” said Robert Bell, SSPI Executive Director.

SSPI Chairman, Richard Wolf, Senior Vice President Telecommunications & Network Origination Services at ABC Television, added, “SSPI’s mission is to foster professionalism and advance careers in the industry.  Our committee has determined that each of these individuals has gone above and beyond in exemplifying what SSPI stands for.  We are very proud of them and proud to be associated with them.”

In addition to the four honorees, SSPI makes honorable mention of six additional young professionals: Melanie Charles, Marketing Manager, WEGENER; Bevan Gibson, Technology Executive, Sky News; Andrea Kociancic, Director of Fleet Development, SES WORLD SKIES; John Mullen, Manager, RF Engineering, Segovia, Inc.; Lior Rival, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, RRsat Global Communications Network Ltd.; and Mike Scotto-Di-Cesare, Director, Business Development, Access Service Line Manager, Globecomm.  They will be welcomed at the dinner and cited for their promise as future leaders as well, according to SSPI.
