The Industry Innovator Awards program was initiated in 1993 to identify and recognize outstanding new contributions to the field of satellite communications by both private-sector and public-sector organizations. Honorees are chosen for accomplishments ranging across a broad spectrum of advanced satellite technology and business applications. Nomination Categories Two awards are presented in each of three categories, with one award going to a private-sector company and one to a public-sector organization. All nominations must indicate the category for consideration. - Technology Development & Applications for scientific and/or engineering innovations that demonstrate applications or developments used to improve on and/or achieve new uses for satellites.
- Systems Development & Applications for the combining or linking of technologies into an innovative or enhanced use of satellite technology.
- Service Development & Applications for applying satellite technology with a positive social, economic or educational impact.

| How to Nominate
The 2010 Industry Innovators Awards nominations are closed. Nominations for the 2012 Industry Innovators Awards will be accepted beginning in November 2011.
1. Entries will be accepted only from SSPI Members or Corporate Sponsors in good standing. An entry may be for any corporation, association, government agency or team of individuals within the satellite industry.
2. The entry must consist of a two-to-three page detailed submission. Charts, photographs, case histories and other supporting material are strongly encouraged. Successful entries will:
- Indicate the category for which the nominee should be considered.
- Indicate whether the nominee is a private-sector business or a non-profit organization.
- Clearly identify and describe the technology, systems or services that are considered as innovative or new to the satellite industry.
- Include a quantitative result. This result should be measurable in terms of improved technical parameters, economic impact or a specific social value or impact.
