SSPI relies on the work of dedicated and talented volunteers to carry out its professional development mission and oversee the Society's programs. In addition to the Board of Directors and Chapter leadership, volunteers serve on a number of standing committees.

• Academic Council. SSPI's Academic Council focuses on maintaining and expanding SSPI's relationships with educational institutions and nonprofits with an educational focus. The Council has been instrumental in developing many of SSPI's educational products and services.

• Awards Committee. The Awards Committee manages the process and acts as the jury for SSPI's annual awards programs, including the Industory Innovators Awards, the SSPI Hall of Fame and the Promise and Mentor Awards. The committee also approves content on SSPI's Satellite Timeline.

• Human Resources Committee. The HR Committee focuses on developing and maintaining SSPI's relationships with the Human Resources departments of major employers in the satellite industry, many of which are Corporate Sponsors of SSPI. It is through this channel that SSPI delivers many of its professional development services to the industry.

• Sponsorship Committee. The Sponsorship Committee oversees SSPI's annual Corporate Sponsorship campaign and selects the annual Theme that debuts at each year's Gala. Members of the committee also promote the value of sponsorship to their contacts in the industry and encourage annual renewals.
